Another great recipe from Flavors of My Roots!
Here is what you'll need:
5 Cups of Chopped Hearts of Palm
½ Small Onion, Chopped
2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
5 Tablespoons Butter
2 Tablespoons of Flour
¼ Cup of White Wine
2 Cups of Hot Milk
1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
1 Cup Parmesan Cheese
¼ Teaspoon of Nutmeg
Salt, to taste
How to prepare:
Sauté 2 tablespoons of onions with 2 tablespoons of butter for about 3 mintues
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 2 more minutes
Add the hearts of palm and mix well
Add the wine and let it cook for about 5 minutes
Place the heart of palm in a baking pan and pour the sauce on top
Add the mozzarella cheese and bake for about 25 – 30 minutes at 400ºF
For the bechamel sauce
Start by sautéing 2 tablespoons of onions with 3 tablespoons of butter until the onions are golden brown
Add the flour and mix well
Add hot milk, stirring until the mixture thickens
Add the parmesan cheese, mix well and set aside
